Heavy-Duty Engine Heaters & Cold Weather Starting
Defeat winter's worst. ZeroStart (a brand of Phillips & Temro) is the global leader in thermal management and cold weather starting solutions. For diesel trucks, farm equipment, and cars parked in freezing climates, ZeroStart manufactures incredibly reliable freeze plug block heaters, silicone oil pan heaters, and heavy-duty battery warmers. Ensure your engine starts instantly and reduces cold-start wear, no matter how low the temperature drops.
Freeze Plug Engine Block Heaters
The most efficient way to heat an engine is from the inside out. ZeroStart block heaters press directly into the factory freeze plug (core plug) hole on your engine block. They feature a powerful copper heating element submerged directly in the engine coolant. This keeps the entire engine block warm overnight, ensuring instant ignition and immediate cabin heat when you start the car.
Silicone Pad Heaters
Cold oil is thick like molasses and won't flow to your bearings. ZeroStart silicone pad heaters use an aggressive 3M adhesive to stick directly to the bottom of your metal oil pan or transmission pan. Simply plug them in, and they heat the metal pan, keeping your engine oil thin and ready to flow instantly during a sub-zero cold start.
How long should I leave my ZeroStart block heater plugged in?
You do not need to leave it plugged in all night. A block heater only takes about 3 to 4 hours to raise the engine coolant to its maximum temperature. The most efficient method is to plug the heater cord into a heavy-duty outdoor smart timer set to turn on 3 hours before you leave for work.
Can I put a silicone pad heater on a plastic oil pan?
No. ZeroStart adhesive silicone pad heaters get extremely hot and are designed exclusively for metal (steel or cast aluminum) oil pans and fluid reservoirs. Applying one to a modern composite or plastic oil pan will melt the plastic and cause catastrophic failure.
